BACKGROUND: Barreiros, 49, of West Babylon, is running on the Republican line. A lifelong resident of Babylon Town, she is a graduate of West Babylon Senior High School. For the past two and a half years Barreiros has worked in the purchasing department of the Suffolk County Board of Elections. Prior to that, she worked for 14 years as a paralegal at a Levittown law firm. She also owned a nail and tanning salon in West Babylon for seven years. She is married with a daughter.

ISSUES: Barreiros said she is making her first run for office because she wants to bring Republican representation to the town board, which is majority Democrat. “I believe in a two-party system and the Republican voice needs to be heard in town government,” she said. Barreiros vowed to listen to everyone’s views and work to keep the town safe and affordable for taxpayers.
