Mike Francesa does robocall for Elaine Phillips

Sports radio host Mike Francesa has released a robocall encouraging voters in Nassau’s 7th State Senate District to support “his friend,” Republican candidate Elaine Phillips, the mayor of the Village of Flower Hill.
Francesa lives in the North Hempstead village near Phillips’ home and in July contributed $2,000 to her campaign.
“I know something about winners and that’s why I am voting for Elaine Phillips for State Senate,” Francesa, a registered independent, says in the call. “As a village mayor Elaine cut taxes. In the Senate she will fight for lower taxes and bring back honesty and ethics in Albany. New York is a tough place and Elaine Phillips is a tough lady who will stand up for all of Long Island.”
Phillips will take Democrat Adam Haber, an East Hills businessman on Nov. 8. Sen. Jack Martins (R-Old Westbury) is vacating the seat to run for the House seat of retiring Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington).
On Monday, Haber received the endorsement of Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul during a visit to the Great Neck Social Center. Hochul cited Haber’s plan to reform state ethics laws and his support for gun control measures.
“As a successful businessman and school board member, Adam Haber is a leader and role model for his entire community in Nassau County,” Hochul said. “I am proud to support him in his race for the 7th Senate District along with Governor Cuomo. We need Adam to bring real change to Albany to represent the families of Long Island.”
Haber was endorsed last week by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.
