Richard Bianculli of Oyster Bay Cove, a former driver for Nassau County GOP chairman Joseph Mondello, has been nominated by the Nassau County Legislature to serve on the board of the Nassau Health Care Corporation.

If approved by the Nassau County Legislature, Bianculli would replace Uniondale obstetrician Leonard Benedict, whose term expired Feb. 1.

[NOTE: An earler post incorrectly said the appointment was made made by Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano.]

Bianculli is a vice president of Nassau Downs, the local OTB operation, and was head of planning and development for Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano before resigning suddenly last spring after four months in that job. He has held several county and Town of Hempstead jobs over the years.

In a straight doctor-for doctor replacement, the legislature has appointed Dr. Thomas Jan of Massapequa to replace Dr. Rosemarie Guercia on the board of the corporation, which runs Nassau University Medical Center and related facilities.
