Michael Watt, the new spokesman for Nassau Republican Chairman Joseph Mondello and the county GOP, last week posted on his Facebook page that former Mayor Michael Bloomberg “would make a great president” after the billionaire businessman leaked word he may make a third-party run.

“Gotta love the man,” wrote Watt. But when asked if that was the county party’s official position, he replied: “No, I’ll be taking it down.”

“I’m new at this,” he added. “It’s silly on my part not to realize that I can’t do that anymore.” Watt said his remark was “tongue in cheek” because Bloomberg signed a copy of his autobiography to “Michael, the mayor of Long Island.”
