They are the new kids on the lobbying block, but it didn't take long for the Committee to Save New York to rise to the top.

In fact, the business-backed group that helped Gov.Andrew M. Cuomo fight for spending cuts will likely end 2011 as the state's biggest spending special interest.

The committee, in its first year, spent nearly $9.8 million lobbying through October, easily topping all others, according to the New York Public Interest Research Group. The year isn't over yet, but it's doubtful anyone will catch up to them.
