Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has a giant supporter, campaign filings show.
The 24-hour notices required by the state Board of Elections for any contributions of more than $1,000 show that Bellone received a $5,000 contribution from Jonathan M. Tisch, co-chairman of the Giants football team and chairman of Loew’s Hotels.
Those late filings also show that Bellone received a $20,000 donation from Dover Knolls Development Co. II, LLC, a subsidiary of The Benjamin Companies of Garden City. The firm spent $3.95 million in 1990 for the 850 acre century-old former state mental hospital later known as Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, but resold it to the San Francisco-based Olivet Management Co. in 2013 which looked to make it into a educaitonal and research campus.
