BACKGROUND: O’Donnell, 56, of Bayville, is running for the Green Party line in the primary and on the Republican, Conservative, Independence and Reform party lines in the general election. He has served as judge in the Nassau County District Court, 4th District since 2012. From 2006 to 2012, he was special counsel to the Oyster Bay town supervisor, and the supervisor’s liaison to the Department of Public Safety. From 1995 to 2006, he was an assistant district attorney in the Nassau County district attorney’s Special Investigation Bureau, where he investigated and prosecuted environmental and conservation law crimes, and prosecuted bribery, corruption and official misconduct cases. From 1999 to 2004, he worked as special assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York, prosecuting the Nassau County BPA insurance fraud case. From 1990 to 1995 he was partner in a general practice law firm Kelly, Muraca & O’Donnell in Nassau County. He received an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in 1984 and earned his law degree from Seton Hall University Law School in 1987. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1988. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar and the Former Assistant District Attorneys Association of Nassau County. He is a director and former president of the Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club in Locust Valley. He is a member of the Friends of the Bay in Oyster Bay. He was awarded the U.S. Department of Justice Award for Public Service in 2004.
