Reports: Bill Thompson to concede race to Bill de Blasio

Bill Thompson will concede the Democratic mayoral nomination to Bill de Blasio today, according to multiple media reports.
Thompson is scheduled to make an 11 a.m. announcement about the New York City mayor's race at City Hall, according to his campaign.
Thompson, 60, a former city comptroller and the 2009 Democratic mayoral nominee, was runner-up to de Blasio, 52, the city's public advocate, is last Tuesday's primary election.
Unofficial results showed Thompson had about 26 percent to the vote and de Blasio had just over 40 percent, which is the threshold needed to avoid a runoff election.
Thompson had for the past week insisted he would not concede until every vote was counted.
The city Board of Elections Sunday night completed a check of the voting-machine results and was to begin opening paper ballots Monday.
