Riverhead Democrats' chairman stepping down

James "Butch" Langhorn, Riverhead's Democratic chairman for the past decade, plans to announce at a party meeting tonight he will step down in September, when his term expires. The former aide to Rep. Tim Bishop, who's now an assistant to Suffolk Sheriff Vincent DeMarco, cited recent major surgery. The top contender for successor is vice chairman Vincent Villella, a former town supervisor.
