Sandra Lee, TV host, Cuomo’s partner, says surgery went well
ALBANY -- Food TV host Sandra Lee reported Friday that her reconstructive surgery following a double mastectomy went well.
“So, so, so happy to be almost done!” said the longtime domestic partner of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo on her Facebook page. She had surgery on Thursday and remained at The Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan on Friday.
“Surgery all over -- I’m trying get up and about,” she posted. “Not good with pain killers -- makes me sick and weepy … thank you for all your messages of support.”
She said she hopes Thursday’s surgery would be her last reconstructive surgery.
Lee was 49 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She mounted a crusade to urge young women to get screened for cancer early and often.
Cuomo and Lee have been together for more than 10 years and live in her Westchester County home.
