After a year on the job, Suffolk County Community College president Shaun McKay’s three-year contract was extended last week by college trustees for five more years.

The trustees announced the extension after a 90 minute executive session and disclosed McKay will take no cost of living increase for the coming year. No other contract details were disclosed. McKay’s one year freeze comes as the college’s faculty and administrative unions have already agreed to multi-year freezes, though those contracts do not affect step increases for experience.

Freezes or not, McCay's contract totals $274,000 a year — $230,000 in salary, plus a $33,000 a year annual housing allowance and $11,200 car allowance.
