Schumer’s imaginary Baileys probably voted for Trump and him

The Baileys of Massapequa — the imaginary couple that Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) dreamed up to guide his political focus — voted for Republican Donald Trump.
Or mostly likely did. In Joe and Eileen Bailey’s hometown, 69 percent of the voters chose Trump.
It’s not totally surprising. In describing the Baileys in his 2007 book, “Positively American: How the Democrats Can Win in 2008,” Schumer said they voted for Ronald Reagan twice, George H.W. Bush once, Bill Clinton twice and George W. Bush twice.
“Politically, they are up for grabs,” Schumer wrote of the politically independent couple. “I felt that, too often, the Democratic Party ignored them. I made it my mission not to.”
Schumer succeeded — overwhelmingly winning Massapequa — and presumably the fictional Baileys’ votes, as well.
