Sons of well-known North Fork figures seek Southold trustee seats

Two scions of well known North Fork political names are making their own first runs for public office.

The sons of Suffolk Legis. Al Krupski and former Greenport Mayor David Kapell are running on the Democratic line in November for Southold town trustee, a part-time post which pays $18,619 a year. Trustees make decisions regarding all town waters.

Nick Krupski, 26, is the son of Democratic Legis. Al Krupski (D-Cutchogue) who himself once served as a town trustee. Young Krupski works as a field operator for the Suffolk Water Authority and previously worked as a marine biologist for the Cornell Cooperative Extension.

Matthew Kapell, 34, a broker in the family real estate business, is running on the Democratic line but is not enrolled as a party member. Both Krupski and Kapell are running against Republican incumbent David Bergen and GOP newcomer Glenn Goldsmith for seats on what is now a 5-0 Republican board.
