Despite his conservative budget, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo is receiving far more campaign contributions from fellow Democrats than Republicans, according to the New York Public Interest Research Group. NYPIRG put together a profile of the 599 individuals who gave to Cuomo over the six months that ended July 11. Using voter registration data, NYPIRG could match 346 of the individuals with their political affiliations.

The researchers found: 67 percent of the donations came from Democrats; 19 percent came from Republicans; 10 percent came from voters with no party enrollment; 2 percent from Independence Party members and 0.6 percent from registered Conservatives. Also notable: About 36 percent of the donors sat out either the 2006 or 2008 general election, or both.
