BACKGROUND:

  • Goyle, 51, was born in Cleveland and lives in Manhattan. He earned a B.A. in public policy from Duke University and a law degree from Harvard Law School.
  • Goyle has worked in philanthropy in New York City, serving on a number of boards. He was also the co-founder and CEO of Bodhala, an analytics company that was acquired in 2021.
  • Goyle was elected a Kansas state legislator in 2006. He was the Democratic nominee for Kansas' 4th Congressional District in 2010, losing to Mike Pompeo, who later became U.S. secretary of state.

ISSUES:

  • Goyle says if elected he will audit utilities and the state Public Service Commission, and push for a utility ratepayer rebate.
  • He wants to divest the New York pension fund from all foreign bonds and reduce the reliance on Wall Street fund managers.
  • Goyle has also campaigned on investing the state’s pension fund in affordable housing.
