BACKGROUND:
- Rhoads, 53, of Bellmore, is a Nassau County legislator for the 19th District. He is also running on the Conservative line.
- Rhoads has a bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany, SUNY, and a law degree from Hofstra Law School. He is an attorney in private practice.
- Rhoads has been a volunteer firefighter for 30 years with the Wantagh Fire Department. He is the director of the youth ministry at St. Pius X R.C. Church in Plainview.
ISSUES:
- Rhoads said that Albany’s bail laws “have made our communities less safe, leading to a 53% increase in major crimes in Nassau County in the past year, according to county police statistics.”
- He said, “a repeal of bail reform is a priority as is providing our police with the tools they need to keep us safe."
- Rhoads said, "eliminating wasteful spending and cutting income, gasoline and utility taxes will help combat inflation and cost of living increases.”
