Suffolk’s largest public employee union has endorsed two Democrats and a Republican for New York State Senate.

The Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees backed Suffolk Legis. Monica Martinez (D-Brentwood) in the 3rd Senate District, and the re-election bids of Sen. John Brooks (D-Seaford) in the 8th District and Sen. Carl Marcellino (R-Syosset) in the 5th.

“We are convinced that our endorsed candidates have a proven track record of fighting vigorously for their constituents and have earned their trust,” AME President Daniel C. Levler said in a statement.

Suffolk AME represents over 6,000 active workers and 4,000 retirees.

Levler said he expected the officials to join “our ongoing fight to preserve and protect our employment rights, which continue to be threatened by anti-union special interest groups.”
