Suffolk County has the sent out the most absentee ballots of any county in New York State this year.

As of Friday, the county had sent out 39,833 absentee ballots, compared with 16,453 four years ago. That year, 12,037 absentee ballots were cast.

Of the Suffolk absentee ballots sent this year, 17,051 went to Democrats, 12,211 to Republicans, 838 to Conservatives and 1,438 to Independence Party voters. Another 7,962 absentee ballots went to voters not aligned to any political party.

Nassau County had sent out 32,745 absentee ballots as of Thursday, compared with 19,889 in 2014, when 12,726 ballots were actually cast.
