Suffolk DA Spota won't go near 'serial killer' label
Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota is not very pleased with County Executive Steve Levy’s administration today.
Shortly after he ripped Levy for his attempt to block legislation to give Spota and the other four countywide elected officials authority to fill vacant positions in their departments, the district attorney broke from Police Commissioner Richard Dormer on the investigation into four dead bodies found near Ocean Parkway.
Asked if it is fair to consider the matter the work of a serial killer, as Dormer Tuesday said "could" be the case, Spota said: “I will not speak as the police commissioner speaks.” He referred to the bodies as “potential homicides” and declined to comment on any other specifics of the case.
Levy’s spokesmen did not immediately return a request for comment on Spota’s statements about Dormer.
