Eric Kopp, who retired as a deputy Suffolk executive last month, is on his way back as County Executive Steve Bellone’s latest appointee to the county board of ethics.
A resolution naming Kopp, a Coram resident, to the unpaid post could come up for legislative confirmation as early as March 22.
Kopp, a Republican who served as chief deputy under former County Executive Robert Gaffney, would be filling a vacancy left by real estate attorney Robin Long last year. Long quit the post to manage the campaign of longtime friend Bridget Fleming, who became a county legislator last fall.
“The county executive asked me to do it and I agreed,” said Kopp.
