Suffolk: Palumbo video shoot preceded his no-go on county exec race
GOP Assemb. Anthony Palumbo decided against running for county executive late last week after Republicans spent money on a crew to shoot video of the New Suffolk lawmaker and his family in preparation for a campaign launch. One party source put the cost at $7,500.
John Jay LaValle, Suffolk GOP chairman, said he is not upset with Palumbo, noting that the decision to wage a tough countywide campaign ”is a very personal one for him and his family.”
LaValle only a year ago dropped out of the race for comptroller at the last minute after accepting the GOP nomination.
LaValle also said money spent on the video won’t be wasted: “He still has to run for re-election” to the Assembly.
