After one of the nastiest gubernatorial elections in memory, Andrew Cuomo and Carl Paladino still haven't spoken. The postelection formality of a concession call did not take place. The reason why is just another thing for the two campaigns to fight over.

Paladino said in his concession speech and an interview with Newsday that he left messages for Cuomo on election night and the day after. "Cuomo never returned the call," said Paladino campaign chief Michael Caputo.

Cuomo had no official comment but one well-placed insider had a totally different take: Paladino did not call; rather, Cuomo's staff called Paladino's twice and never heard back.
