Throne-Holst, Zeldin release new ads in congressional race

Democratic congressional candidate Anna Throne-Holst’s first general election television commercial began airing Tuesday in her race against freshman Rep. Lee Zeldin.
The spot highlights her record as Southampton town supervisor, an office she held from 2009 until 2015. It makes no mention of Zeldin. It is running on cable throughout the district, with a buy of more than $75,000 the first week, according to campaign spokesman Andrew Grunwald.
Meanwhile, Zeldin, a freshman Republican from Shirley, released a web campaign ad on Tuesday that highlights bills he’s worked on involving counter terrorism and bridge infrastructure, as well as saying he’s fighting to reduce mandated educational testing and to save Plum Island. The narrator says Zeldin “calls it just a start. Let’s keep Lee Zeldin working for us.”
The 1st Congressional District, which covers the eastern end of Long Island, is expected to be among the most competitive congressional races in the country.
