Former Suffolk Executive Patrick Halpin has endorsed Tom Suozzi, a former Nassau executive, to succeed retiring Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington), a one-time Halpin aide.

Halpin called Suozzi “a proven reformer” and ”a fierce advocate” who took on Albany and fixed Nassau’s finances. Suozzi also has Queens Borough President Melinda Katz’s support, which Suozzi calls an “impressive one-two punch.” The tri-county 3rd C.D. primary could have up to six candidates.

Suffolk Presiding Officer DuWayne Gregory (D-Amityville), challenging Republican Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford), announced endorsement by VoteVets.org, representing 400,000 veterans and military families nationwide.
