BACKGROUND:
- Cuthbertson, 55, of Huntington, has been a Huntington Town councilman since 1998. The licensed attorney also works in private practice and is also running on the Working Families Party line.
- Cuthbertson also was a member of the Huntington Town Planning Board.
- He has a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and a law degree from The Albany School of Law at Union University.
ISSUES:
- Cuthbertson touted his experience in governmental matters as a town councilman and attorney. He said he helped attract Canon USA to Melville, preserve open space and improve town parks and recreation facilities. He also cited Huntington’s triple A bond rating.
- Cuthbertson said he is focused on fiscal responsibility and wants to ensure the county uses its new surplus in the best way. He supports adequately funding police.
- He said he wants to protect the environment, including by having a county fleet that runs on renewable energy and considering climate change in land-use decisions.
