BACKGROUND:

• Orelli, 70, of Huntington, is a third generation, lifelong resident of Huntington.
• He is the current superintendent of highways. He’s also running on the Working Families Party line.
• Prior to taking office, he was the owner of family business Noresco Ltd., a site improvement contractor specializing in excavation, stormwater drainage, sanitary systems, sewers, water main installation, road work and snow plowing. He said he has over 50 years of business experience working for his family-owned company.

ISSUES:

• He plans to continue his effort to double the miles of roads paved in a year from 25 miles to 50 miles, putting the town on track to pave every road in Huntington once every 16 years. The town has more than 800 miles of roads.
• He said he will continue to take an aggressive approach in combating flooding areas throughout the township of Huntington by proactively cleaning storm drains and adding needed drainage structures.
• He will add a brine-making system for treating town roads prior to snowstorms for the 2021-2022 winter season. He also will continue to make efficiencies in the department by adding needed equipment that is lacking, upgrading the resident communication system and instituting a new work order system to increase efficiency and accountability.
