BACKGROUND:
- Schermeyer, 59, of Westhampton Beach, is seeking her fifth four-year term as Southampton Town Clerk.
- She is also running on the Republican and Conservative party lines.
- She holds a bachelor of science degree in business management, public administration and accountancy from Southampton College.
Issues:
- She has overseen technology improvements, including the town clerk portal on the town website, which allows residents to access town board and other board activities.
- In 2022, the Historic Division under the Town Clerk’s Office will take on a preservation project to conserve a series of historic maps, surveys and plans that date back to the 19th century from the highway, engineering and planning departments.
- Schermeyer said she will collaborate on a new project to make processing Building Department Freedom of Information requests more efficient.
