Pamela D. Panzenbeck, Mayor, City of Glen Cove
PAMELA D. PANZENBECK
Republican
BACKGROUND:
- Panzenbeck, 68, a retired Levittown public school teacher makes her first run for mayor after serving three terms on the city council and losing reelection in 2019. She is also on the Conservative and Tax Revolt party lines.
- She cited debt reduction, budget surpluses and the recycling program as accomplishments while she was in office.
- She received a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s in human resources from New York Institute of Technology.
ISSUES:
- She would hold monthly budget meetings with each department head and identify the city’s assets, from buildings to vehicles, to plan repairs before any deterioration becomes costly fixes.
- Panzenbeck would simplify the permitting process for businesses, calling a dog groomer’s yearlong attempt and the legal fees a "big ordeal" that is unacceptable.
- She wants to slow down the pace of large projects that have broken ground recently, such as the $1.25 billion Garvies Point, and take stock of the big picture: "We need to maintain our small town-ness."
