BACKGROUND:
- Dunne, 71, of Levittown, is running on the Republican, Conservative and Tax Revolt party lines.
- He joined the Town Board in 2017 and is running for his second four-year term.
- Before joining the Hempstead Town Board, Dunne served 22 years on the Nassau County Legislature.
ISSUES:
- Dunne voted for two consecutive tax-cut budgets in Hempstead Town, froze town taxes for 2021.
- Dunne said his agenda includes maintaining and enhancing roads and parks, voting to invest $75 million in road repaving and infrastructure improvements. He also vowed to dedicate $10 million in upgrading local town parks.
- He said the town was able to keep services open during the pandemic using zoning provisions that allowed restaurants to offer outdoor dining and PPE kits and meals for seniors.
