BACKGROUND:

• Heckman, 41, of Eastport, is running on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election.
• Heckman has served as principal law secretary to Suffolk Supreme Court Justice John B. Collins since 2012.
• In 2011, Heckman was a deputy town clerk for the Town of Islip and was an assistant county attorney in Suffolk’s County Attorney’s Office. From November 2007-2010, Heckman served on the staff as a defense attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Suffolk County in Riverhead.
• She spent two years after law school in the general practice law firm of Leo P. Davis in East Moriches. Heckman received her undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in 2002 and earned her law degree from Villanova University School of Law in 2005.
