BACKGROUND:

  • Gaylor, 58, of Lynbrook, is a general practice attorney seeking a fourth term. He is on the Republican and Conservative party lines. He is a former Nassau County traffic court judge and former Lynbrook Village associate justice.
  • He touts his record in the Army, which took him to Panama, Germany, South Korea and Kosovo, among other places, before he retired as a lieutenant colonel after 23 years.
  • He received his law degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and a master’s in business administration from East Texas State University.

ISSUES:

  • Gaylor said he would support funding programs to keep communities safe, such as adding the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system to more areas, including Hicksville.
  • He said he has been a part of the Republicans' efforts to sponsor bills and highlight issues, including calling for fixes to County Executive Laura Curran’s revamp of the property assessment system.
  • He said he would look for ways to cut taxes and fees.
