  • Caracappa, 54, of Selden, is running as an incumbent after winning the seat following the death of Legis. Tom Muratore (R-Ronkonkoma). He is also running on the Conservative Party line.
  • He was president of Local 393 Utility Workers Union of America and served previously as a trustee of the utility union’s national executive board. He was formerly a Suffolk County Water Authority maintenance worker for 34 years.
  • He served on the Middle Country Central School District board of education for seven years.

ISSUES:

  • Caracappa wants to protect drinking water and air quality by preserving the aquifer, open space and county parks.
  • He supports feasibility studies and installation of sewers in coastal communities and neighborhoods throughout Suffolk County.
  • He wants to expand the county's economic development initiatives while remaining focused on the budget, working to increase revenue streams while maintaining county services.
