Dorothy S. Ogar, Town Clerk, Town of Shelter Island
DOROTHY S. OGAR
Republican
BACKGROUND:
- Ogar, 82, of Shelter Island, has been town clerk since 1978. Before that, she served as deputy town clerk for 16 years.
- Ogar is a member of the fire department auxiliary and president of the Shelter Island Cemetery Association.
- She attended Shelter Island public schools.
ISSUES:
- She would continue the ongoing digitization of town records, which stretch back to the 1730s.
- She would keep the office progressing the way it is and is hopeful the town can add more space.
- Twenty years ago, the office moved to its present location, Ogar said, but that isn't its final stop. "People need more space to do projects and make everything accessible," she said.
