ANTHONY A. PICCIRILLO

Republican

BACKGROUND:

  • Piccirillo, 38, of Holtsville is running for reelection to a second term. Previously, he spent more than two decades working in construction, restaurant, and other service industries. He is also running on the Conservative Party line.
  • He was secretary of the Bohemia Civic Association and a member of the Sayville Civic Association.
  • He graduated from Sachem High School in 2001. Piccirillo says he studied history at Suffolk County Community College and Dowling College but did not complete his degree.

ISSUES:

  • Piccirillo says he voted against all tax increases and all pay raises, except for one contract. He says he voted to give Suffolk County detective investigators raises totaling 11.25% over six years because the county received federal pandemic aid.
  • He wants to update septic systems, preserve land, and curb excess nitrogen in fertilizers, which runs into stream, lakes, and coastal waters. He wants to use public funds to buy private land and properties and use them for parkland and open space.
  • Piccirillo says crimes, including shootings, are up and the county needs to hire additional police officers.
