Cathy A. Rogers

Democratic

Background:

  • Rogers, 64, of Springs, is the East Hampton Democratic Committee chairwoman and served on the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals for nine years. She is also running on the Working Families Party line.
  • She is a co-chair of The Climate Reality Project’s chapter on Long Island and a founding member of East Hampton-based Win With Wind and Wind Works Long Island, which are offshore wind and renewable energy advocacy groups.
  • She ran unsuccessfully for East Hampton town trustees in 2013.

Issues:

  • Rogers said her passion for East Hampton is sustainability for the environment and community. That includes climate resiliency, water quality, affordable housing opportunities and protecting the working class. "You can’t stop change, but you can certainly bend it," she said.
  • She wants to upgrade infrastructure such as cellular and broadband services and bring it up to date so people working remotely have sufficient technology to stay in town.
  • She said she wants to "deepen the accessibility of information" and broaden communication from the town to constituents.
