BACKGROUND:

  • Manetta, 41, of Babylon Village, has worked as a Babylon Town councilman since taking office in 2018. He is also running on the Democratic, Republican and Conservative party lines.
  • Manetta works as a partner in a real estate investment company Cedar Communities, an assisted living facility in Jericho.
  • He was the chief executive officer of the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency from 2012 to 2014.

ISSUES:

  • Manetta said he will focus on continuing to support small businesses in the town by building bridges with the community as an elected official through creating jobs and internships for college students.
  • He said he will host venues for employers in trades such as manufacturing to develop future employment opportunities for town residents who wish not to attend college.
  • He said he will look to create a phase two grant relief for small businesses in town using money from the American Rescue Plan, a stimulus funding package for local governments tied to the coronavirus pandemic.
