BACKGROUND:
- Abrahams, 47, is the Legislature's Minority Leader and has served in the chamber since winning a special election in 2002.
- He is also running on the Working Families Party lines.
- Abrahams has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Queens College. He also attended Baruch College’s MBA Program.
ISSUES:
- Abrahams said the county's first-ever body camera program would help create accountability in the police department's ranks.
- Abraham cited funding for infrastructure in his district, including newly resurfaced roads and nearly $8 million to revitalize Centennial Park in Roosevelt.
- Abrahams said a key priority is to create an Independent Redistricting Commission before the county reapportions legislative districts in 2023. Abrahams said it was crucial to ensure that the districts are not "gerrymandered," as they have been in the past.
