  • Copertino, 64, of Deer Park, is currently working part-time at the NYC Transit Adjudication Bureau.
  • Copertino was appointment by Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone to fill a vacant Babylon District Court seat on the bench in June 2013, before winning election to the position that November. Copertino served on the bench until the six-year term ended at the end of 2019.
  • Copertino was a NYC Transit Authority attorney from 2008-2013, the last two years as its ethics officer.
  • From 2001 to 2008, Copertino was general counsel in the Office of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, MTA inspector general.
  • He was an assistant district attorney in the Rackets Bureau at Nassau County District Attorney's Office from 1999 to 2001.
  • He graduated from Elmira College in 1978 and received his law degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1981.
