Lisa Daniels, County Legislator — Seventh Legislative District
LISA DANIELS
Democratic
BACKGROUND:
- Daniels, 55, of East Rockaway, an attorney, makes her second attempt at the seat after her 2013 loss. She is also on the Working Families Party line.
- She focuses on legislation as part of the New York State Bar Associations’ committee on children and the law. She taught law at Hofstra University and Queens College.
- Daniels received a bachelor’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University and a law degree from Brooklyn Law School.
ISSUES:
- Daniels calls for expanding green space to help absorb storm surge; upgrading drainage and wastewater systems to reduce flooding; and making it easier to use sustainable energy sources.
- She plans to help small businesses and Main streets recover from the pandemic. Permits should be expedited for them and a user-friendly system set up for grants and resources, she said.
- She would focus also on transparency and reform government to stop any corruption. Would knock on doors to get "constant input" from constituents.
