BACKGROUND:

• Martinez, 51, of Wheatley Heights, has served on the Babylon Town Board since 2008 as a council member and since 2012 as a deputy supervisor. He is also running on the Conservative Party line.
• He spent nine years as a union organizer and council representative for what is now the Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters.
• He has a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta.

ISSUES:

• Martinez said he wants to strengthen the Rental Review Board by educating rental property owners who are up for renewals or seeking a rental permit.
• He said he will help Babylon Town continue to invest in infrastructure to improve town roads and parks.
• Continue to work with the town supervisor to maintain property taxes and keep an AAA bond rating, which helps the town borrow money to pay for capital improvements at an affordable rate.
