BACKGROUND:
- LaMarca, 57, of Oyster Bay, was elected Oyster Bay town clerk in 2019. He is running for a second term. LaMarca is also running on the Conservative and Tax Revolt party lines.
- LaMarca is a 1982 graduate of Oyster Bay High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Villanova University and a master of business administration from St. John’s University in Jamaica, Queens.
- Before being elected town clerk, LaMarca was director of labor-management relations for the Town of Oyster Bay. LaMarca was an internal auditor and then a vice president of human resources for New York Life Insurance Co. in Manhattan.
ISSUES:
- LaMarca said he kept his office open through COVID-19 crisis by opening walk-up windows at both town halls. In addition he has officiated at about 275 in-person, socially distanced wedding ceremonies.
- LaMarca said move more documents and applications for permits and licenses online, and instituting credit card transactions for town clerk services. He said, "I want to make things easier for people to do business with the town."
- If reelected he will focus on categorizing, labeling and digitizing town historic documents and creating display space online and in town facilities for residents to see "the wealth of historic materials owned by the town, which include historic Bibles and artifacts from the 1700s and 1800s."
