Kevin P. Maccarone, Council Member, City of Glen Cove
KEVIN P. MACCARONE
Republican
BACKGROUND:
- Maccarone, 31, an attorney, seeks a second term after winning in 2017, then losing in 2019. He runs also on the Conservative and Tax Revolt lines.
- He touted his votes in office against piercing the tax cap and hiking water rates. He is on the board of the Glen Cove Hall of Fame, which also raises funds for the city Youth Bureau.
- He received a bachelor’s degree in business information technology from Xavier University and a law degree from Touro College.
ISSUES:
- Maccarone favors incentives for landlords and businesses to fill in the many empty stores. He wants to direct code enforcement toward the public beer drinking and marijuana usage.
- He would control taxes by controlling spending. That includes determining whether recent budget and salaries increases for the city attorney and controller should be cut back.
- Maccarone said he would like projects to meet the needs of the workforce and the city. He would also consider limiting tax breaks to developers because such incentives cut into the growth of the city’s tax revenue base.
