Matthew W. Malin
Democratic
BACKGROUND:
- Malin, 29, of Wantagh, is deputy executive director of the Nassau County Democratic Committee. He is also running on the Working Families Party line.
- Malin grew up in Seaford and is a 2010 graduate of MacArthur High School in Levittown. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from Hofstra University. He was a legislative intern in former Rep. Carolyn McCarthy’s office in Washington, D.C.
- Malin ran unsuccessfully in 2016 and 2018 for the New York State Assembly and in 2015 for the Nassau County Legislature.
ISSUES
- Malin said that all of his campaigns for public office have focused on creating affordable housing for "people my age," so that young families can purchase homes in Nassau County.
- Malin said he’s running for the county legislature because he is a "concerned parent" and a lifelong legislative district resident and recently bought a house in Wantagh.
- Malin said that his opponent in the 15th legislative district race "has not done much other than the obligatory street paving and attacking the county executive."
