BACKGROUND:
- Rhoads, 52, of Bellmore, is an attorney who won a special election in 2015 and is seeking a fourth two-year term. He is also running on the Conservative and Tax Revolt party lines.
- Rhoads has a bachelor’s degree from the University at Albany and a law degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.
- Rhoads is a volunteer firefighter with the Wantagh Fire Department and is an ex-captain of Engine Co. No. 5.
ISSUES:
- Rhoads said he will continue to block efforts to defund the police. He said he will work to overturn the 2019 reform of the state’s bail system, which he said "has allowed hundreds of criminals back into our streets to reoffend."
- Rhoads supports using the county’s budget surplus to rebuild Nassau’s economy, create jobs and cut taxes and fees.
- Rhoads said he has submitted legislation to make the county reassessment process fair, accurate and transparent.
