BACKGROUND:

  • Bynoe, 53, of Westbury, has served on the Nassau County legislature since 2014 and is running for her fourth, two-year term. She is the chairwoman of the workforce development committee on the HUB redevelopment project. She is also running on the Working Families Party line.
  • Bynoe is the principal of Acclaim Management Strategies LLC, a housing and management consulting firm, and is an adjunct professor at LIU Post. She is the former executive director of the Huntington Housing Authority.
  • She gained unanimous support for a bill that changes how first responders deal with mental health calls and passed a legislation creating a reimbursement program for residents who implement sprinkler systems aimed at conserving water. She has an associate degree from Nassau Community College, a bachelor's from Hofstra University and a master's from LIU Post.

ISSUES:

  • Bynoe says she will continue to work on legislation that invests in her district's infrastructure.
  • She will continue to advocate for police reforms and law enforcement/first responders' response to the county's mental health crisis.
  • She says she will continue to push for legislation aiming to improve water quality and conservation.
