Long Beach City, Council Member
Term: The two candidates with the highest number of votes will serve four-year terms; the third-highest will serve a two-year term.
Salary: $21,559.80 (2021 adopted budget)
Duties: The five-member council makes up the legislative branch of Long Beach government. The council has the power to make, establish, publish and modify annually, and repeal local laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and bylaws for the city. It also has control over the management of city-owned property and appoints the City Manager, who serves on the executive branch.
