Why Ben Carson’s name is still on the GOP primary ballot

Wondering why Ben Carson’s name is still on New York’s Republican presidential ballot?
The former neurosurgeon, who dropped out of the race in March, missed the deadline to withdraw his name from the ballot, election officials said.
Votes for Carson will be voided. The votes for him won’t be counted against the percentages of the three remaining Republican candidates.
Candidates can remove their names from primary ballots by filing a certificate with the state board of elections at least 28 days before the election. Carson announced on March 4 that he was dropping his presidential bid.
Candidates also can file a certificate asking that their votes be voided. Carson’s request was only filed with the state within the past week, said Nicholas LaLota, Suffolk’s Republican elections commissioner.
Carson endorsed Trump a week after he suspended his campaign.
