This alleged “porch pirate” won’t have to walk the plank in this century but police on Friday said they had charged him in the theft of packages from four North Woodmere homes during the holiday season.
Kurt Stewart, 18, was arrested late Thursday at his home in Rosedale, Queens, and charged with four counts of petit larceny, Nassau County police said.
Porch pirates are thieves who steal what often are holiday presents, left by the front door, typically because no one was home, or the delivery person didn't ring the doorbell.
The thefts for which Stewart is charged started on Nov. 26 at homes on Gilbert Place and Flanders Drive, a police statement said. Then, on Dec. 27, Stewart stole packages from houses on Flanders Drive and Nutley Place, the police said.
Stewart’s arraignment is scheduled for Friday at First District Court in Hempstead.
