A U.S. Postal Service employee was arrested in Wantagh for stealing mail and possessing a baggy of cocaine, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

Employees at the Wantagh Post Office called police on Thursday to report one of their colleagues, Daniel Schultz, in the theft of parcels of mail. Officers found multiple parcels in the backseat of Schultz’s personal car before arresting him about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, police said.

Schultz, a 40-year-old Levittown resident, also had "a clear plastic bag with a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine" on him when he was arrested, according to a Nassau County news release.

A Nassau police spokesman could not immediately provide further details about how many parcels were stolen or what Schultz’s exact position was at the post office.

Schultz faces charges of possessing cocaine and stolen property, as well as one count of criminal tampering in the second degree and three counts of petit larceny.

His arraignment on Saturday at Nassau District Court was rescheduled to Oct.1, according to the court website.
