A PSEG Long Island contract worker trimming trees in Huntington Station Tuesday afternoon died after he fell 20 feet from a bucket truck, Suffolk police said.

The victim, identified as Edis Rene Maldonado, 40, of Copiague, was taken to a hospital where medical personnel pronounced him dead, according to police. Suffolk Homicide Squad detectives are investigating.

Maldonado, an employee of ARS Corp Services, and working as a subcontractor for PSEG Long Island, fell from the extended bucket truck about 1:55 p.m. as he trimmed trees near utility lines at 777 Park Ave., police said.

Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration responded to the scene and are investigating, according to police.

Elizabeth Flagler, a spokeswoman for PSEG Long Island, said the fatality was under investigation but declined to comment.

ARS Corp Services officials were not immediately available for comment Tuesday night.
